If a ROB RUN party invitation says your friend is on another server, Kefir’s documented fix is to enter Prison, switch to your friend’s server there, and send the invitation again. Opening an invite repeatedly does not complete that server change.
The official route includes Surrender to Feds. Read the game’s confirmation before using it: the short support article does not specify what possessions or current-cycle progress this voluntary action preserves. Do not treat it as a guaranteed loss-free teleport.
Confirm that this is the same error
Ask your friend which server they are using and compare that with the invitation message. This page addresses the explicit different-server warning. A dropped connection, an outdated client or a full party may require a different investigation; the cited article does not establish a universal party fix.
Our recommendation is to agree on the destination before either player changes worlds. Write down the server as it appears in the game rather than assuming that being in the same region means being in the same world. Region and server are different pieces of information for this troubleshooting task.
Follow the official server-switch sequence
Kefir gives this order:
- Open the global map.
- Select the Prison location.
- Choose Surrender to Feds, after reviewing any confirmation and consequences shown in the current game.
- Once inside Prison, switch to your friend’s server.
- Send a fresh party invitation.
The help article identifies Prison as the place to make this change. It does not document a command, an external server browser or a way to switch directly from an active heist. Follow the current interface if button placement has changed.

Keep the different surrender systems separate
Surrendering to a Police Officer during a Criminal run has documented bag-versus-equipment rules. That interaction should not be used to infer the consequences of the Prison server-switch action. The names sound similar, but the cited instructions address different situations.
The Police guide covers officer surrender. The wipe guide covers Federal Raid resets. Neither turns the short party-support answer into a promise that all possessions move between servers. If retaining your current loadout matters, resolve the confirmation wording with official support before proceeding.
Verify the result before starting a job
After the switch, check the destination server and send the invite again. Our suggested success check is that the friend can accept without the different-server warning. Agree on a meeting point before committing to a team robbery or buying equipment for a shared run.
If the warning remains, capture the message and both displayed server names. Note whether the failure happened before the switch, after it, or only when accepting the invitation. Those details make a support report more useful than simply saying multiplayer does not work.
What this fix does not establish
The official article does not provide cross-region migration rules, party-size limits or transfer guarantees for property and inventory. This page makes no claims about those features. For a startup or authentication error instead of a party warning, start with the error-code lookup.
For support identification, Esc opens the screen containing your UID and its Copy UID button. Include that identifier and a screenshot of the error through official support rather than posting private account details publicly.
